What is a crafternoon?

A crafternoon can happen anytime of the day and it is when a group of likeminded people devote time to create something.

It was so hard choosing a name for my business as the words ‘craft’ ‘art’ ‘painting’ etc all come with their own images in our head. Crafting for many, conjures up images of paddle pop sticks or scrapbooking paper.

Art is something we think only artists can make or it makes people stressed that what they create is not good enough. A lot of people also feel that to paint, draw or sculpt you need to be an expert.

I want to change these views by making creating fun and something everyone feels safe to do.  At Crafternoons with Kirst I offer workshops for a variety of people to explore different creative mediums.

It is my aim for everyone who attends my workshops to take away:

  • New skills you can take away and use again

  • A piece of work you are proud of

  • New connections

  • A smile : -)

Hello there!

My name is Kirsten. I live in Brisbane, Australia with my husband, daughter and our sausage dog, Peanut.

I created Crafternoons with Kirst to give people in my community a chance to create in a non-judgmental, fun space while connecting with their inner artist through play and collaborating with friends.

As a mum and a woman over 30, I have found that it is often a challenge to find time out by myself and to connect with other women who just enjoy creating and chatting. I hope that the workshops are a chance for people to get together with friends or make new friends and craft without little hands wanting to ‘help’.

I try to use materials that are easy for people to get hold of after workshops, so they can continue creating and pass their new skills on.

I have a background in Project Management and Communication and use these skills to host fun and engaging workshops but I also LOVE creating and want to pass this passion on.

“It’s always crafternoon time somewhere in the world” - Kirst.
